Get Close to the Action!

The NorthShore Unversity HealthSystems Grand Prix features several cycling and festival events throughout the day beginning at 9:00 a.m. Spectactors can watch racing for FREE from any point along the course, any time of day.

Spend Sunday, July 19, visiting local shops along the multi-lap, closed course. Choose from more than 30 restaurants and enjoy outdoor dining along the race course all day. The races go on rain or shine.

Race Type: Criterium, a multi-lap event on a course usually a mile or less in length

Kids Bike Race

Kids ages 3 to 9 may enter one of four free races (categorized by age group) right on the course beginning at 3:15 p.m. during a break in the pro cycling action. Kids must BYOB (bring your own bike...and helmet). Parent or legal guardian must sign a liability release form.

Live Music Throughout the Day

Roots Rock Society

This year, musical acts from Evanston's Ethnic Arts Festival will perform throughout the day onstage in the Expo Area. Then, EvMark presents Roots Rock Society plays during the Professional Women's and the Professional Men's races, from 4:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Described as "a Chicago legend," the award-winning Roots Rock Society brings a blend of reggae, calypso, soul and African zouk music for your listening and dancing pleasure.

Directions to hotel: From the Start/Finish line on Sherman Avenue, take Davis Street west two blocks to Maple Avenue, turn right (north) on Maple Avenue to Church Street. Turn right into the far lane on Church Street, such that you are on the left side of Church Street as you go under the railroad trestle, and then immediately turn left (north) on Maple Avenue. Take Maple Avenue north one more block to The Hilton Garden Inn Evanston, on your left.
