The Evanston Bike Race
Returns: Sunday, July 15
Many thanks to the City of Evanston for their support in presenting this amazing cycling event. The event simply would not have been possible without the efforts of the city workers and volunteers who kept things running smoothly throughout the downtown area. Of course, much gratitude as well to all of our fine sponsors.
About the Evanston Grand Prix
Sunday July 15, 2012
Downtown Evanston will be bustling all day for the annual Evanston Grand Prix. Get up close and personal with Olympics-level cyclists as they careen around the city streets clocking in at more than 30 mph.
Come early and visit the local shops on the course which starts at Fountain Square. Choose from 70+ restaurants many featuring outdoor dining or relax in the 312 Urban Wheat Ale Beer Garden, ALL along the racecourse. Enjoy a dance party and bring the kids for their own bicycle race on Sunday afternoon before the pro series begins. But don't miss the main event: Pro Races Begin at 4:00 pm.
Pro Cycling at Its Best
Evanston hosts Stage 10 of the U.S.'s largest multi-category cycling event, the 17-day-long Point Premium Root Beer International Cycling Classic bicycle race. After a full morning of serious amatuer races, the men's and women's pro cyclists come on the scene starting at 4pm. You'll be an arms-length from world-class, Olympic-level athletes competing for cash prizes and top honors.
Free to the Public
This festival is free and packed with events and excitement all day long. Enjoy "al fresco" dining at 70+ restaurants or this year's new 312 Urban Wheat Ale Beer Garden alongside all the action.
